• Samsung and Cellular South today announced the upcoming availability of a Samsung Galaxy S smartphone. Samsung has also announced this past week that versions of the Android-powered Galaxy S are coming to T-Mobile (Vibrant), Verizon Wireless (Fascinate), AT&T (Captivate), and Sprint (Epic 4G)
• HP today announced it has completed its acquisition of Palm Inc. at a price of $5.70 per share of Palm common stock in cash. HP has made it clear that it would like to leverage Palm WebOS mobile device platform for use in everything from connected printers to tablet devices and smartphone.
• McAfee today announced availability for its Trust Digital enterprise mobility management (EMM) platform for devices running iOS 4, Apple's newest mobile operating system, providing an upgrade path for existing Trust Digital EMM customers. McAfee also announced the Trust Digital platform will be delivering Mobile Device Management (MDM) capabilities. McAfee announced the close of its Trust Digital acquisition on June 3.
• In-Stat today released a report that projects revenues from in-flight wireless broadband will increase 1345 percent, from just $7 million in 2009 to $95 million in 2010. "However, the fee per connect is expected to deteriorate as lower connect fees are negotiated for roaming and billing partner subscribers," said Frank Dickson, VP Research for In-Stat.
• DeviceAnywhere, today released its monthly metrics report, which shows which platforms developers are testing for. For the first time, Android tied Windows Mobile as the third Most-Tested OS in the DeviceAnywhere Test Center. Both platforms equaled 15.2 percent of total testing time. Year-over-year, Android testing has increased dramatically: growing from 3.3 percent of the total usage in the DeviceAnywhere Test Center in May 2009 to 15.2 percent in May 2010.
