Telesoft, provider of fixed and mobile telecom expense management (TEM) software and services, introduced the Telesoft 10.0 TEM software solution. The software allows enterprises to manage their fixed and wireless telecom expenses and is aimed at reducing unnecessary or improper spending. Telesoft TEM version 10.0 includes expanded requirements for usability and reporting for increased visibility into telecom spending.

Starbucks will turn on free Wi-Fi on July 1 at U.S. and Canadian company-operated stores. Customers with Wi-Fi-enabled laptops, tablets and mobile phones will have unlimited Internet access. Until now, the free Wi-Fi benefit was limited to two hours a day and only available to members of the My Starbucks Rewards program. The new, unlimited Wi-Fi offering features a one-click entry point, so a user name or password will not be required.

ABI Research forecasts more than 5 billion mobile subscriptions worldwide by the end of 2010, with an approximate 4.8 billion connections having been reached by the end of the year's first quarter. Much of the growth will be registered in developing markets in Africa and the Asia-Pacific region.

• The cellular baseband processor market recovered well in the second half of 2009, as described in the latest report on baseband market share from the Strategy Analytics Baseband Quarterly Metrics service module. The report reveals that the cellular baseband market exceeded $11 billion in 2009, down about 0.7 percent as the market faced ASP (average selling price) challenges. Qualcomm, MediaTek, Infineon, Broadcom and Marvell made progress in 2009 while ST-Ericsson, Texas Instruments and Freescale had a difficult year, the research firm says.

Neustar has hired Aaron Goldberger as vice president, Regulatory Affairs. Prior to joining Neustar, he most recently served as senior legal advisor to the bureau chief in the FCC's Wireless Telecommunications Bureau. Earlier, he was legal advisor to FCC Chairman Kevin Martin, senior legal advisor to FCC Commissioner Deborah Taylor Tate and acting deputy director of the FCC's Office of Legislative Affairs.

InterDigital announced the election of Jean F. Rankin, executive vice president, general counsel and secretary at LSI Corporation, to its board.
