SurfKitchen Adds T-Mo to Roster

SurfKitchen scored a big U.S. win. The Reading, U.K., company is supplying T-Mobile USA with technology to power a storefront for customers using the Nokia 7510.

The storefront went live in December on some 7510 Series 40 devices and will roll out to more in the coming months, according to SurfKitchen Chief Technical Officer Dave Evans.

The launch is similar to one that SurfKitchen did with Orange. The idea is to give customers multiple places to find apps, so their choices go beyond the stores offered through device OEMs.

Last May, SurfKitchen deployed its mobile Internet platform in Australia to support the launch of the TelstraOne Experience. In November, the company announced that Telstra had increased mobile content and data revenues by more than 11 percent on SurfKitchen-powered handsets.

In reviewing how the new user interface impacted mobile data use by volume, Telstra found that mobile data use was almost 7 percent higher when comparing results on two identical handsets – one with TelstraOne Experience and one without.
