• Accenture has completed its acquisition of Nokia's Symbian Professional Service. The deal was initially announced in July and allows Accenture to assume full ownership of Nokia's Symbian Professional Services unit, which is responsible for Symbian OS customer engineering and customer support. As a result of the transaction, 157 people will transfer from Nokia to Accenture.
• Apple has reached an agreement with GTA TeleGuam to bring iPhone 3G and iPhone 3GS to Guam later this year. No further details have been released at this time. GTA TeleGuam provides communications and high-speed Internet access services to consumers and businesses on Guam, including typhoon-resistant landline telephone services, 3G wireless, high speed DSL Internet access and advanced television, or IPTV.
• Leap Wireless International subsidiary Cricket Communications announced the availability of its Cricket PayGo products at nearly 1,700 Dollar General store locations in Cricket markets. The PayGo service at $1, $2 or $3 per day has been available at Dollar General stores since April, but now the PayGo monthly service plans are also available at $40 and $45 per month.
• Personal Communications Devices has expanded its product lines for GPS tracking, wireless modems and handsets. The company's new mobile GPS tracking device, the CMA8110BK, is targeted at the M2M market and is powered by Qualcomm's inGeo platform.
• Mobile infrastructure provider Tecore Networks has integrated a 3G radio network controller into its all-IP multi-technology core network. According to Tecore, the integration of the new technology helps lower rural operators' cost of entry into UMTS technology.
• Yovia and Target Mobile have formed a network partnership that allows Yovia to reach its community members on their handsets. Yovia is an advertising engine driven entirely by people. Target Mobile is a mobile brand marketing and channel management company and also handles emergency platform development.
