STOCKHOLM (AP) — Nordic telecom operators Tele2 and Telenor ASA said Tuesday they will form a joint venture to build a high-speed wireless Internet network in Sweden.
The new network will be based on 4G wireless technology that enables users to surf the Internet at speeds of up to 150 megabits per second – 10 times faster than with the current third-generation technology – Tele2 spokeswoman Pernilla Oldmark said.
Sweden's Tele2 and Telenor of Norway will be equal partners in the joint venture, named Net4Mobility, Oldmark said.
The launch of the new network, which will be based on LTE, is expected at the end of 2010, the companies said in a joint statement.
