• DDH Software announced availability of its Mac OS X conduit for syncing HanDBase databases stored on iPhone and iPod touch devices. It’s available in the Apple iTunes App Store for $9.99.
• Independent app store GetJar announced that VoIP, presence and IM provider Nimbuzz reached 10 million downloads on its network. The free app supports popular communities including Skype, Windows Live Messenger (MSN), Yahoo! Messenger, ICQ, GoogleTalk, AIM, and social networks including Facebook and MySpace.
• Mobile Monday Boston, a professional organization for mobile and wireless in the Boston area, announced that $215 million was invested in Massachusetts mobile companies in the first quarter of this year. That figure makes the first quarter of 2009 the biggest for mobile investment in the last five quarters. Funds were raised by 11 mobile companies, including Nuance Communications and Quattro Wireless.
• Skycore, its online platform Cellyspace.com and Oregonian Publishing Co. announced the debut of the newspaper’s storefront featuring historic pages available as mobile wallpapers. The joint effort makes The Oregonian one of the first newspapers in the country to take advantage of the technology, the companies say. Each wallpaper costs $1.99, invoiced on the buyer’s monthly mobile phone bill.
