• Orange and Nokia announced they will extend their partnership with a new e-mail service for consumers. The extension of their multi-country agreement will deliver and launch a co-branded solution, Nokia Messaging by Orange, on a range of Orange Signature devices, with the goal being to bring mobile e-mail to everyone with a phone, as well as working professionals.
• SonicMule, also known as Smule, announced the availability of Leaf Trombone World Stage, a multi-player musical game for the iPhone and iPod touch. Smule, the company behind Ocarina and Sonic Lighter, presented a sneak peek of the Leaf Trombone World Stage at Apple’s iPhone 3.0 event last month. As the name suggests, anyone can perform a tune on the Leaf Trombone before a global audience and get critiqued by a panel of judges.
• Good Technology is expanding its mobile device portfolio to include the Samsung Propel Pro from AT&T. Good Technology also recently introduced support for the HTC Fuze and the Samsung Epix.
• Clearview Tower Company closed a $12 million growth equity commitment from Peppertree Capital Fund. Clearview Tower develops, owns and operates wireless communications towers in regional clusters throughout the United States.
• mindWireless says it recently logged 1 million wireless help desk inquiries. Initiated in 2004, the company’s Help Desk is based in its Houston headquarters and manages a variety of user issues, including billing inquiries, replacing lost or broken devices, wireless device procurement and device set-up.
• Common Voices announced the immediate availability of enhanced voicemail for Android G1 phones using the T-Mobile network. A free service, NowMessage.com allows users to view and hear their voice messages directly on their G1 handset.
• Dell and China Mobile Communications Corporation (CMCC) announced the Inspiron Mini 10 netbook with CMCC’s built-in 3G wireless service. The price of the netbook starts at about $575.
• SouthernLINC Wireless, a Southern Company, announced it is returning as the official wireless sponsor of the Birmingham Barons for the second consecutive year, and it is also supporting the Mobile BayBears this season. The Barons are the Double-A affiliate of the Chicago White Sox, whereas the BayBears are the Double-A affiliate of the Arizona Diamondbacks. Both teams play in Minor League Baseball’s Southern League.
• EA Mobile, a division of Electronic Arts, announced the availability of five new games for mobile phones, including American Idol, Downtown Texas Hold’em, Mystery Mania, Cranium and Hell’s Kitchen.
