At least one chapter in the quest to establish a nationwide broadband network for public safety has closed. Cyren Call Communications on Friday said it will no longer serve as the adviser to the Public Safety Spectrum Trust Corporation (PSST).

Cyren Call cited various factors, such as lack of an adequate funding source for ongoing PSST activities and the recalibration affecting personnel and policy that naturally follows a change in administration.

“There is a new environment taking shape and a new team is being assembled in Washington, D.C.,” Cyren Call Chairman Morgan O’Brien said in a press release. “As a result, those of us pursuing the creation of a nationwide network for public safety, along with many who are following other wireless communications initiatives, will need patience as the dust settles and priorities begin to take shape.”

PSST Chairman Chief Harlin McEwen said the PSST will continue to strive toward the goal of bringing broadband wireless capabilities to the public safety community.
