Verizon Wireless said it certified Intertek Group as an independent device testing lab for the carrier’s wider effort to allow a wide variety of equipment on its network.
“We are excited to be part of such a leading edge initiative, which leverages our expertise and comprehensive testing services, and we look forward to building upon our long-standing relationship with Verizon Wireless,” said Intertek’s David Dennis, vice president of operations, in a statement today.
Verizon, in its Open Development Initiative FAQ, said it will certify multiple laboratories for testing purposes. Tests will typically last a few weeks and there will be unspecified charges, the company said.
