Xohm, Sprint’s mobile WiMAX network, became commercially available today for customers in Baltimore, Md.
For $140, customers get a laptop card and modem to launch the service. The contractless monthly fee is $30 a month for mobile laptops and $25 for home access. There is also a day pass for $10.
Sprint expects to turn on Washingon, D.C., and Chicago next.
Sprint is currently spinning Xohm off into a joint venture with Clearwire. Last week, the FCC’s Kevin Martin said signing off on the Sprint-Clearwire joint venture was a top priority for his agency to complete before the end of the year.
