Palm developers can start charging for their Palm webOS applications. Palm said today that developers can begin submitting their applications for consideration in the Palm App Catalog e-commerce beta program, which will begin in mid-September.
According to a press release, developers selected to participate in the beta program will have the opportunity to have their applications, both free and paid, featured in the Palm App Catalog.
As part of the program, developers will receive a 70/30 split of gross revenues generated through application sales. The company said that further details about the program and distribution model will be provided in the coming weeks. Palm expects to launch the full developer program in the United States this fall.
The Palm Pre, which was hyped as an iPhone-killer, saw a good deal of criticism over what was seen as a lack of available applications for the highly anticipated device.
