• TruePosition has opened a 9,000-square-foot Research and Development Center in Westborough, Mass., which will be devoted to developing location technologies that will enable next-generation, location-based safety and security solutions.
• Symena and the Institute of Communications and Radio-Frequency Engineering (INTHFT) are working together to develop automatic cell planning (ACP) functionality for the Long Term Evolution (LTE) standard. INTHFT is part of the Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Information Technology at the Vienna University of Technology. According to Dr. Thomas Neubauer, Symena’s managing director, working with the INTHFT provides added insights into developing areas such as MIMO simulation and field measurements, fractional frequency reuse and traffic localization techniques. Symena released Capesso, its ACP for LTE in March 2008.
