Deloitte Names Wireless Fast 50
By Rhonda Wickham
WirelessWeek - October 23, 2007

SAN FRANCISCO—Deloitte & Touche, in partnership with CTIA, announced the Wireless Fast 50, a ranking of the fastest-growing wireless companies based on revenue growth over the past five years. Satellite technology company SIRIUS Satellite Radio topped the list, with SkyBitz, TeleNav, BTI Systems and Tira Wireless rounding out the top five, respectively.

The list provides a glimpse of growth areas in wireless, including a fair representation of companies offering wireless broadband products and services. A number of providers also offer efficiency products such as antennas and backhaul solutions. Interestingly, there were few mobile content or mobile advertising companies in the Fast 50. However, Phil Asmundson, vice chairman, U.S. Technology, Media & Entertainment and Telecommunications for Deloitte & Touche USA, suggested that it might be too soon to see these types of content companies on the list as one of the requirements is to have been in business for five years.

To qualify for the Wireless Fast 50, Deloitte said companies must have had operating revenues of at least $50,000 in 2002 and $5 million in 2006 and be a company that owns proprietary wireless technology or proprietary wireless intellectual property that contributes to a significant portion of the company's operating revenues or devotes a significant proportion of revenues to the research and development of wireless technology.
