Although Google reported a nearly 46% jump in net income for the third quarter, executives are not reporting any specifics about the company's plans for the mobile space.

According to a report by Dow Jones newswires Google co-founder Larry Page and CEO Eric Schmidt said "a lot about very little" during a conference call with Wall Street analysts yesterday.

Google executives did not say whether or not the company plans to bid in the upcoming spectrum auction, though it was heavily involved in lobbying the FCC to adopt open access requirements for at least a portion of the spectrum.

According to the Dow Jones report, Page did say that the company has "many, many different options available" in terms of spectrum and connectivity solutions, adding that there are "opportunities available" for the company "in those kinds of spaces."

The executives also said that they are seeing strong results for the company's mobile application offerings and that it plans to continue talks and partnerships with wireless carriers.

The company has also reported another hiring surge during the quarter, adding 2,130 new employees. But neither Page nor Schmidt confirmed or denied rumors about Google working on its own mobile handset.
