Sprint Nextel has extended its unlimited voice and data plan offerings to three new metropolitan areas including Minneapolis-St. Paul, Tampa, Fla., and Philadelphia. The carrier is offering two unlimited plans: one for $120 per month, which includes unlimited voice, text and data use; and the second for $150 per month, which includes all three of those plus unlimited data access with a PC card.
"Sprint is committed to giving customers the best value in wireless with more unlimited communication options," said Rob Bryant, area vice president for Sprint, in a statement. "The Unlimited Access Pack trial enables us to explore additional ways of fulfilling that commitment, with offers that allow customers in the Twin Cities to purchase voice, text and data in one plan."
Sprint initially began the offer to customers in San Francisco.
The carrier also is testing out a different unlimited plan in markets in Texas and California under the brand Boost Unlimited. The new service is targeted at customers with poor credit and is modeled after flat-rate prepaid competitors such as MetroPCS and Leap Wireless. Boost Unlimited began offering the prepaid, unlimited local calls service May 1.
