Kodiak Networks has partnered with High Tech Computer (HTC) to offer Kodiak Connected Applications on HTC devices with the Microsoft Windows Mobile operating system. HTC is the first smart device provider to commercially offer a Microsoft Windows Mobile device with the Kodiak Embedded Client. The HTC-designed AT&T 8525 features Kodiak Push to Talk, Kodiak PTT Presence Manager and Kodiak Voice Notes. Part of the Kodiak Connected Portfolio, these voice applications include a variety of mobile solutions and handset clients geared toward business, consumer and social networking groups.

Comptel announced that it has been selected by Wana, a Moroccan supplier of fixed and mobile telecommunications services, to provide provisioning, mediation and identifier management solutions for their next-generation network (NGN). Comptel's IMS-ready solutions will enable Wana to provision customers and services on that network, collect usage information for charging purposes and manage IP addresses and mobile numbers.

Vodafone has been selected by the Portuguese Government to supply all fixed and mobile communications during the Presidency. Portugal's Presidency will last 6 months and will involve approximately 50,000 people at around 29 official events held in 10 different places in the country. The communication requirements cover voice and data solutions for fixed and mobile communications.

• Dutch telecom group KPN, said that it is considering a bid for Austrian mobile operator ONE. The former Dutch telecom monopoly, has said it is looking for opportunities to expand into other European markets. The company, which is active in the Netherlands, Belgium and Germany, has said it could buy an operator outright or act as a virtual operator on a competitor's network.

• British telecom Cable & Wireless (C&W) denies speculation that a takeover bid is in process. C&W said that there were no bids on the table for the company's takeover and no formal plans for a merger. The company also announced that it beat forecasts with a 20% jump in annual core earnings.

Wavelink has upgraded its Avalanche Mobility Center with new features including advanced user management, network traffic management control, simplified WLAN configuration and extended reporting. Wavelink's Avalanche MC is a comprehensive management solution for the wireless enterprise that provides visibility and control of wireless infrastructure and mobile devices from a central console. Key new features include granular user management, bandwidth/network traffic management, added firmware support and extended reporting.

Ceragon Networks and Nextlink Wireless have inked a deal to use Ceragon's solutions to support broadband wireless-based alternative access services including high-speed Ethernet and Private Line Access. Ceragon Networks will let Nextlink, one of the largest holders of fixed wireless spectrum, deliver both Ethernet and TDM solutions over its high-capacity wireless networks at speeds from 45 Mbps to 622 Mbps.

• Mobile community Peperoni has selected advertising network AdMob as its advertising partner. The deal means AdMob's advertisers, including Coca-Cola, Adidas, Teletext and LG will have exclusive access to the peperonity.com network, which is growing at more than 20% per month. peperonity.com is used by 10 million unique visitors per month and enables mobile users with no programming knowledge to design their own mobile page layouts, run blogs and chat with other members within the community.

Webalo has met the requirements for IBM's Service Oriented Architecture (SOA) Specialty program. This means that any company with access to IBM's SOA infrastructure can offer sophisticated business information on  mobile devices being used in their organization. Webalo developed the Mobile Dashboard, an IBM-hosted Web service that permits anyone to link pre-existing business spreadsheets to reports that are automatically formatted for the characteristics of any particular smartphone.
