Canada’s Rogers Wireless made a move to cater to its customers growing music appetites and enhanced its MusicStore offerings with the addition of two new Nokia handsets. The handsets – the 5300 and the 6085 – are pre-loaded with Rogers Music Player and are compatible with Windows Media DRM.
A recent study by Nokia Canada revealed that one in five Canadians already own a music-enabled phone and that half of the respondents (52%) said they might buy a music-enabled phone in the next 24 months. Armed with this information, Nokia and Rogers Wireless set out to re-launch the Rogers MusicStore with more music, greater flexibility for downloads and more handsets.
The 5300 XpressMusic is a slider phone that features dedicated music player keys and can hold up to 500 songs on a 1 GB microSD card. The 6085 is a clamshell form factor that also features the music player and microSD card. They are available for $79.99 and $29.99, respectively, with 3-year contracts.
MusicStore tracks can be downloaded directly to mobile phones or to PCs.
