Wireless Data Solutions Plans IDA Merger

Loading...

Wireless Data Solutions (WDS) and IDA Corporation executives believe their chances of pursuing future wireless growth opportunities will be increased as a combined entity. To that end, the companies have signed a letter of intent to merge.

"WDS has actively investigated emerging growth technology companies with attractive growth segments in the wireless vehicular communications market," WDS Chairman Pat Makovec says. The company has turned to acquisitions to strengthen its management team and boost its efforts to secure funding.

IDA designs and manufactures electronic accessories, including base station remote controllers for 2-way wireless radio markets, including business-to-business and federal, state and local governments.

IDA also has designed a Global Tracking Data Center to track vehicle and equipment status using GPS. WDS' subsidiary Distributed Networks develops ruggedized mobile wireless data communications for vehicle fleets.

Financial terms of the proposed deal were not disclosed.
