Cingular Enhances GoPhone Offering

Cingular Wireless is putting its faith in its GoPhone brand by enhancing its prepaid offering and unveiling a new advertising campaign.

The prepaid wireless plan consists of two service packages, "Pay As You Go" and "Pick Your Plan." The Pay As You Go plan gives customers the option to either pay 10 cents per minute, plus a $1 daily access fee when the phone is used or pay a flat rate of 25 cents per minute and no access fee. The Pick Your Plan option requires no contract and gives customers a choice of four different monthly rate plans, ranging from $29.99 to $69.99.

GoPhone customers have access to Cingular features, including voice mail, text messaging, instant messaging, international calling rates, downloadable applications and mobile-to-mobile calling to other Cingular customers at no additional charge.

AT&T Wireless originally launched GoPhone in 2003. The brand became part of Cingular when it snapped up AT&T Wireless in a deal that was finalized in October 2004.

Cingular also is launching a new GoPhone advertising campaign that will appear nationally on television and online. The carrier is rolling out regional print and radio support for the prepaid service as well.
