AT&T Expands Music Application Portfolio
By Wireless Week Staff
WirelessWeek - March 27, 2008

AT&T has announced two new music applications: mSpot's Make-UR-Tones and Remix. The carrier also announced plans to expand Napster Mobile offerings for over-the-air downloads.

mSpot’s Make-UR-Tones app allows customers to create a 1- to 30-second ringtone from the favorite part of a full song from their wireless phones. The Remix application gives customers access to their PC-based music collections directly from their phone. The Remix mobile player connects with a PC over the AT&T network, providing access to stored songs and playlists. The player will play the song while downloading it to the phone’s memory card.

“Music is one of the most personal forms of self-expression,” said Mark Collins, vice president of Consumer Data for AT&T's wireless unit, in a statement. “We want to empower our customers to use music however they wish on their mobile phones. We're constantly looking for new opportunities to meet the wireless needs and wants of our customers. We are pleased to offer our customers more choices and flexibility in how they experience music on the go.”

Beginning this summer, more AT&T customers will be able to access Napster Mobile’s service. The carrier said it plans to expand the music platform by making the service available to more than 12 million customers sometime this summer.
