U.S. Cellular said Ljubica Petrich has been appointed vice president and controller.  Petrich was most recently vice president and controller of the office products group for ACCO Brands.

• Film industry insiders attending this year’s Variety Screening Series in New York and Los Angeles will be using their mobile phones as tickets to gain entrance to the movies.  Invited guests at Variety’s Screening Series who are Verizon Wireless customers can receive their screening series tickets directly on their mobile devices for 10 Verizon-sponsored screenings. In related Verizon Wireless news, the operator announced its 10 millionth download of SongID. In the last 18 months ago, the operator said more than 100 million songs have been “requested.”

• Santa Clara, Calif.-based Securematics will market and distribute Meru's wireless networking infrastructure solutions to its base of service provider, system integrator and value-added reseller partners in the United States. Securematics will stock Meru's full line of IEEE 802.11a/b/g/n access points and controllers, and will provide resellers with pre- and post-sales support services including training and demand generation.
