• British media outlets are reporting that the European Union is recommending a maximum cost of 11 Euro cents per roaming text message, compared to around 29 cents currently. The change could happen next summer.
• Good OS, popular as the version of Linux inside Walmart computers, announced a new version called Cloud, which runs inside a browser. It will debut on a touchscreen notebook early next year.
• VIXXI Solutions said its Reverse Geo-Coder technology is nearing availability. Officials claim the technology lets public safety access points receive addresses from wireless callers without having to invest in a mapping system.
• Mobile advertising network Quattro Wireless announced a partnership with Panasonic to promote its Link-to-Cell software on Bluetooth devices.
• Hands-On Mobile, in partnership with Activision Publishing, announced the availability of Guitar Hero World Tour Mobile for mobile phones. The mobile phone version of the popular console game allows players to choose drums, in addition to the guitar, as a playable instrument within the game. Guitar Hero World Tour Mobile is available today on major carriers nationwide and will be debuting in January on Android.
• SMobile Systems announced that its Security Shield application is being introduced for the Research In Motion (RIM) BlackBerry.
