• Comverse has announced that Urban Gillström has been named to the newly created position of group president, Comverse global sales. Gillström comes to Comverse from Ericsson, where he served in a number of senior management positions over the last 15 years, including president of the Ericsson Enterprise business unit, president of Sony Ericsson Mobile Communications (USA), and as a member of the Multimedia business unit’s management team since its inception in January 2007.
• Bluesocket has launched the BlueSecure Trade-Up Program, a trade-in program that helps end users trade in legacy WLAN gear for the Bluesocket equipment, providing an upgrade path to 802.11n.
• The Board of Directors of Wavecom has rejected Gemalto’s unsolicited tender offer as insufficient, saying the offer is not in the best interest of Wavecom, its shareholders and employees.
• Ceragon Networks has signed a long-term equipment supply agreement with India’s Tata Teleservices Limited. Ceragon will provide Tata with its FibeAir solutions, including the FibeAir IP-10 system. Ceragon will also provide Tata with installation services.
• Turkcell is using Gemalto’s SIM-based mobile signature solution to rollout a set of new applications in e-finance, e-commerce and e-government. The solution allows subscribers to securely access online services that require strong authentication using their mobile phones to sign their transactions and documents by means of a legally binding electronic signature. Turkcell initially launched their mobile signature program with the deployment of Internet banking services. This second phase sees the rollout of a broader range of online applications that subscribers can access from their mobile phones, home PCs or an Internet café. Users authenticate themselves at log-in with the digital signature generated by their SIM cards and they can sign secure e-commerce transactions through their handsets.
